The Republican Party

The Republican Party commonly referred to as the Grand Old Party, or the GOP, is one out of the two major recognized political organizations of the United States of America. The other political organization, of course, is the known as the Democratic Party. For decades, these two political parties have been at the forefront of leading and directing the American government and political system. There are however, a few minor “third parties” that are lesser known and have a relatively minor impact on American government, politics, and society. Both the Republican Party and Democratic Party are fairly even in terms of supporters, with roughly about half the nation considering themselves republican while the other half shares the democratic point of view. Though both the Republican Party and Democratic Party share the basic republican foundation which is to let the people of the country decide what is best for them, certain Republican principles are quite the opposite of Democratic ideals. The great United States of America is built upon the cornerstone that individuals will have the freedom and justice to choose freely without fear of being persecuted or harassed for their opinions or viewpoints.
