Political Parties

A minor yet essential aspect of what really distinguishes the United States of America from all the other nations of the world is the freedom of choice that American citizens are granted. One of the major cornerstones that the United States is built upon is stated in the irreplaceable and ever important document that states the fundamental principles of our great nation. This revered document is the Declaration of Independence that really initiated the movement of the freedom and liberties that the United States of America offers like no other nation can.

The American governmental and political system is set up in such a way that American citizens are encouraged to practice their liberty of choice. Though there are several more than just two political parties, the two main political parties that the majority of Americans recognize and concur with are the Republican Party and the Democratic Party. The variety of political parties that an individual is allowed to choose to represent serves as a testimony to the freedoms and liberties that our great nation offers. Though the concept of a political party was founded many generations ago, the lengthy and extensive history of American government and politics illustrate several hardships and obstacles that many people had to witness and fight through in order for us as a society to be in the privileged position we are now. Each political party represents a different and unique point of view, and many Americans may find themselves in between a political party sometimes. The Republican Party or G.O.P. (Grand Old Party) as it is sometimes referred to, is known to be more conservative and traditional when it comes to dealing with political and social issues. The Democratic political party, on the other hand, tends to be more liberal and open minded in regards to issues that affect our communities. Both political parties are fairly evenly supported by different Americans all throughout the nation. There are a few more political parties that are somewhat obscure and lesser known by the general public and a political party can be formed by anyone with enough capital and support. This is quite an uncommon occurrence however, seeing how these few political parties, also known as “third parties” do not have very much support or recognition from the general public.

The competitive and spirited division of the stances of various Americans on different political issues also promotes the reality of the freedom of choice an individual is guaranteed in the United States of America. People are so often encouraged to register to be able to participate in voting activities, and there is no reason not to exercise the right to vote. In many other countries around the world, the right to vote or choose freely is not even fathomable. Seeing as how the voter turnout for the most recent presidential election in 2009 was among the highest in approximately forty years, it seems as if Americans are really starting to become proactive and getting involved in their communities.

Opposing Political Views

The political system of the United States of America is one that is unparalleled by any other nation. One of the most important aspects that make America such a great nation to live in is the variety of choices that an individual is allowed. All citizens living in America are guaranteed the basic right to freely make a choice without having to worry about being harassed or persecuted for a particular opinion, unless of course, this choice can potentially harm another individual. There are a number of political organizations that exist throughout the American society and most, if not all, of these political organizations often have strong political views on a variety of subject matters. Many of the issues that these political organizations possess firm political views about are topics that are somewhat controversial and divide our nation into opposing opinions. In many of these cases however, there really is no true ‘right’ answer, and each opposing political views have their advantages as well as disadvantages, strong points and weak points, pros and cons. The diversity of the American society is exceptional and one that cannot be replicated in any other country. Perhaps it is this exact diversity that makes … Continue reading

The American society enjoys freedoms and liberties that are not even fathomable by citizens of certain nations throughout the globe. The rights that Americans are guaranteed have not come easy however, and there is a lengthy and comprehensive history behind the American government and politic system that is constantly evolving and progressing for a greater nation on a daily basis. Part of the reason behind the efficiency and greatness of the United States government and politic system is due to the simplicity of the system that keeps the rules and regulations in place, running smoothly and seamlessly.
